Biography

Jeehye is a PhD candidate and an Associate Fellow (AFHEA). 


Jeehye completed her undergraduate degree (B.A.) in instrumental music performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, where she specialised in violin. She completed her M.A. in music therapy at New York University, USA and in music education at Kingston University London, UK, for which she was awarded a distinction. 


At UCL, Jeehye worked as a Postgraduate Teaching Assistant for the M.A. in Music Education (2020-2021). In 2021, she has awarded Grand Challenges Doctoral Students’ Small Grants and conducted an interdisciplinary project with the Institute of Epidemiology & Health, UCL which was called ‘Creatively Connected: Investigating the impact of creative arts-based online support groups for university students with disabilities in South Korea during the COVID-19 pandemic’. She has presented her research works at poster conferences at UCL (2020, 2021) and conferences in Germany and the U.K. in 2022. 

Research Summary
Jeehye’s doctoral research focuses on older adults’ instrumental music learning and digital technology use. Her research interests are music instrument learning, older adults’ well-being, technology in education, and digital music technology.
