Julie is a Research Fellow in Sustainable and Healthy Cities (part-time) with the CUSSH project. Her work is engaged with public policy and she works closely with the Greater London Authority on their open innovation programmes, including the Designing London’s Recovery Programme.
She is also a PhD Candidate at the UCL Institute for Innovation and Public Purpose (IIPP). Her doctoral research is focused on the governance of socio-technical transitions and the role of civic innovation experiments. She also researches the policy capacities and capabilities needed for transformative change. She has Masters’ qualifications in Innovation, Public Policy and Public Value (from IIPP) and Economic Geography.
Prior to joining UCL, Julie worked in the research and innovation sector in a range of senior roles including Deputy Director of Research and Innovation Programmes at the UK Research Councils. Her professional experience connects with her research in its focus on public policy and civic innovation ecosystems.
