Biography

My teaching and research are in the field of education, gender and international development. My research focuses on the relationship between violence, gender andinequalities in young people’s lives, and the role of education, with researchstudies in South Africa, Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, Cote d’Ivoire, Togo,Ethiopia, Zambia and Uganda, as well as in the UK. Some of my recent projectshave been in the field of research into school-related gender-based violence(SRGBV) prevention and response, and a distinctive feature of the research hasbeen innovative partnerships with colleagues working in UN agencies,governments and NGOs. I co-lead CEID, the Centre for Education and International Development, within IOE's Department for Education, Practice and Society.
