I am an Alzheimer's Society funded Clinical Academic Fellow in Palliative Medicine. My PhD is looking at how the principles of health promoting public health can be applied to people affected by dementia at the end of life. I studied medicine at Imperial College London and gained my MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. I work clinically as a Specialist Registrar in Palliative Medicine in London.

Research Summary

My research focuses on novel public health approaches to palliative care with particular reference to those people affected by dementia. My current research uses realist evaluation methods to understand the impact of naturally occurring community instigated care on the following areas:

  • the identity and agency of a person with dementia
  • the care-giving process, as experienced by those involved
  • the promotion of self sufficiency and community development

I am also a member of the Qualitative Health Research Network (QHRN) at UCL https://www.ucl.ac.uk/qualitative-health-research-network/ and sit on the editorial board for the European Association for Palliative Care (EAPC) reference group newsletter for public health and palliative care https://www.eapcnet.eu/eapc-groups/reference/public-health.
