- MA Education Tutor / Teacher Educator
- IOE - Curriculum, Pedagogy & Assessment
- UCL Institute of Education
I joined the IOE department for Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment in 2007 working as a tutor on the PGCE Religious Education and as an Institute Partnership Manager. These roles enabled me to work with trainee teachers, practising classroom teachers and members of senior leadership teams in schools.
In recent years I have had the opportunity to work on a number of teacher education projects abroad. This work has included working alongside teacher educators and teachers sharing good practice and leading on continuing professional practice. I have also worked with trainee-teachers. Countries visited include Dubai, Ghana, India, Jordan and Myanmar.
My present role includes being a tutor on two different masters programmes - MA Education and Advanced Educational Practice working with a diverse group of students. Within the Advance Educational Practice programme I am module leader for the MA Module ‘Teacher as Author’.
I was appointed External Examiner to Kings College, London PGCE Religious Education course from 2013-2017.
I joined the Governing Board of The Sherwood School in Merton in 2016 and was appointed Chair of Governors in 2017.
I am a member of a local charity – Christian CARE Association and was appointed Chair of Board of Trustees in 2018.
Faith Schools and Religious Diversity Pilot Study (£10,000); Project aimed to understand how schools with religious character engaged with religiously diverse student population.
I was responsible for the progress and development of trainee teachers ensuring that they were given the opportunity to develop in their communication, creativity and organisational as well as other pertinent skills necessary for the teaching profession. In liaison with school mentors, I monitored and supported trainee teachers in becoming outstanding practitioners in the classroom.
In recent years my work has involved a number of international assignments. I have worked with both teacher educators and trainee teachers in different countries throughout the world.
I am module leader for the masters programme 'Teacher as Author'. The focus of this programme in on curriculum design and development considering pedagogy and assessment. A key question we reflect on is how relevant the curriculum is for learners in the 21st century.
