I am an MRC Clinical Research Training Fellow in the UCL Division of Psychiatry and an old age psychiatry specialty trainee (ST6) in Camden & Islington NHS Foundation Trust. After studying Medicine in Cambridge, I developed an interest in old age psychiatry during my Foundation Training in London and completed Core Psychiatry training in South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.
I am interested in the neurobiology of agitation, which is a common and difficult-to-treat symptom in dementia. My PhD research focuses on how changes to the brain's noradrenaline system in Alzheimer's disease might contribute to the development of agitation. Supervised by Prof Robert Howard and Prof Jonathan Roiser and in collaboration with Dr Dorothea Hammerer, I am analysing physiological, neuropsychological and brain imaging measures from large Alzheimer's disease datasets to explore whether there are potential biomarkers of agitation that can be used to contribute to strategies to evaluate, prevent and treat this condition.
I deliver a lecture for UCL medical students on the MBBS Programme and have delivered a lecture for core trainees on the MRCPsych course. I assess work done by students on the UCL Dementia MSc course.
