Biography
In 2003 I completed a PGCE in Secondary English at the IOE and have been lucky enough to teach in schools in East London and further afield ever since.

As a full-time teacher my posts included Head of English, Assistant Head i/c Teaching and Learning and Deputy Head/Director of Teaching School. Working to develop teachers from their ITT year to senior leadership was (and is) a driving passion - with a particular focus on how lesson observations are used to support this.

As an Education Consultant I now support schools with their journeys to develop teaching, learning, leadership and the curriculum. This includes secondary and primary schools. Combined with my role as an Associate for the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership this involves working on national and international teacher education programmes.

In 2014 I completed an MA Philosophy of Education (Distinction) and was accepted as a Phd candidate.

My thesis work is guided by that interest in developing teachers and lesson observations. It currently centres on exploring the relationship of constraint and freedom in dialogue, through considering the use of literature by Richard Rorty and Mikhail Bakhtin. Robert Brandom's Inferentialism is also an area of interest.

Research Summary
In 2018 I was employed as a Research by Ofsted's Research and Evaluation Team and worked on two national projects:
  • Curriculum
  • Lesson observations
That were part of Ofsted's development of the new Education Inspection Framework.

I have presented papers at BERA's National Conference (Manchester, 2019) and the Philosophy of Education Society (Seattle, 2016).

I am a convenor for BERA's Philosophy of Education Special Interest Group (SIG)
