- Lesley is an Associate Professor in Art, Design & Museology in the department of Culture, Communication and Media at University College London's Institute of Education. She is course leader for the Art & Design PGCE- widely recognised as the most innovative course for secondary art and design initial teacher education in the UK. She is also module leader for Creativity in Art Craft and Design on the Foundation Degree: Working with Children and contributes to the MA in Art & Design in Education. Lesley also runs professional development courses for artist and gallery educators both in the UK and internationally. In addition to work in Europe, she has developed and delivered courses in Nepal, Brunei, Oman and India. Her research interests are initial and continuing professional development for artist/teachers, gallery education, gender, identity and contemporary art and artist in education.

Research Summary
Lesley's research interests include contemporary art and artists in education, gallery education, gender, social class and identity politics and the initial and continuing professional development of art and design educators.
Lesley draws on critical pedagogy and discourse analysis to understand how cultural activities can inform and transform curriculum practices. Since 2007 she has developed her interest and involvement in the internationalisation of Teacher Education.
