I have worked at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at UCL since 2021. Previously I worked as a Research Fellow on the COVID-19 Social Study, also at UCL (2020-2021). In that role, among other things, I researched compliance with public health measures (such as mask wearing). I completed my PhD in Epidemiology and Public Health at UCL in 2021.
Prior to UCL, I was an NIHR Research Methods Fellow at the University of Sheffield. I have an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the Durham University and a masters degree in Economics from the University of Nottingham. Between Nottingham and Sheffield, I worked as a Digital Analyst at the BBC and as an Economist at Monitor (now NHS Improvement).

I am Senior Research Fellow in Population Health / Data Science at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies at UCL. My work uses data from the British Birth Cohort Studies to examine changes in the determinants of health and social inequalities across time. My work spans multiple disciplines. Recent areas of research include:
- (Trends in) the ability of socioeconomic position to predict health
- Cross-cohort and lifecourse changes in the genetics of body mass index (BMI)
- Integrating quasi-experimental research designs into cognitive epidemiology
- Modelling the distribution of continuous health outcomes
My PhD research was on the association between youth unemployment and mental health later in life (so called scarring effects).
I do not currently teach. Previously, I ran a monthly workshop, Lunchtime Hacks, on statistical software topics. I also led seminars in two modules for first-year undergraduates on the Q-Step programme: Principles of Social Science Research and Introduction to Quantitative Research Methods.
