Professor Mohammed G.A Al Maadheed M.D. Ph.D. MSc.
A Professor, Mohammed Al-Maadheed is the Head, Centre for Metabolism & Inflammation, Research Department of Inflammation, Division of Medicine at UCL (appointed in 2020). He is also the Healthcare Advisor to His Highness Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Personal Representative of HH The Emir, in the State of Qatar.
He possess more than three decades’ professional experience both Nationally & Internationally with governments, NGOs, & sectors in Healthcare, Sports Medicine (National and Asian Olympic Committees and FIFA), Anti-doping, & Humanitarian fields. Is considered to be the Leader of Sports Medicine and Anti-Doping in Qatar. Held & undertaken key leadership roles in Qatar’s healthcare. He served as the Vice Chairperson of the Board of Directors and Chairperson of the Executive Committee of the Supreme Council of Health. Appointed as the Chairperson of the ‘Executive Group for a Healthy Population’, which was tasked with the development of the Qatar National Health Strategy 2011-2016. With high level strategic planning and resource deployment devoted to collaborative international, regional partnership initiatives. He has also served as the President of the Qatar Red Crescent and is active in the humanitarian fields and speaks internationally on different humanitarian issues and has been honoured by organisations worldwide. Elected and served as the Vice-President of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for Asia from 2009 to 2013. He has conducted research, gave lectures & courses, published considerable publications, & supervises PhD students in the fields of Anti-Doping, Sports Medicine, Strategic planning & management of public health & humanitarian fields.
Professor Mohammed provides supervision to PhD students in varied fields such as Sports Medicine, Strategic Planning, Public Health Management, Basic Sciences, and some that have a humanitarian focus. His supervision is not exclusive to doctoral students but also at masters level within the Division of Medicine, UCL.
