I received my undergraduate degree from Rome University in 1995 with a master thesis on the construction and test of an electromagnetic calorimeter for L3 at CERN. During that time I was summer student at CERN and later fellow from Geneva University to work on the anlysis of leptonic gamma-gamma production. In fall 1995 I started my Ph.D. at the Swiss Institute for Technology (ETH Zurich), measuring production cross section and mass of W pairs during the first years of the LEP2 running.
I then took a research position, always at ETH (but, as in the previous case, based at CERN), to work in the neutrino group. I worked on the prototype liquid argon chamber that took data at the west area neutrino beam, and on studies of performances of the ICARUS detector for tau appearence measurements. I co-authored several papers on the design, optimization and study of performances for next-generation accelerator-based experiments where neutrinos are produced by the decay of muons in a storage ring (Neutrino Factories).
In 2001 I took up a long-term research position (maitre-assistant) at Geneva University, to work on the CDF experiment. I worked on validation of the SVT trigger, and on the measurement of mass and width of excited charm mesons D1 and D2. I then worked on the measurement of production of photon and b jets, using a trigger that enhances b production identifying on-line tracks with large impact parameter.
In spring 2007 I started working on the Atlas experiment at CERN working on jet clustering algorithms and trigger scintillators, and on October 2007 I joined UCL as a lecturer to work on VBF Higgs searches and forward trigger studies in Atlas.
