Dr Marisza Hijryana is a Research Assistant at Dental Public Health Group, Institute Epidemiology and Health Care, UCL. She is also Honorary Fellow at Edinburgh Dental Institute, University of Edinburgh. Before joining UCL, she worked as a Research Fellow (Mixed-methods) at Artificial Intelligence for Multiple Long-Term Conditions (AIM) study at Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton.
She obtained her PhD from University of Edinburgh (UK) where she received Principal's Career Development and Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships.
She completed a master’s in Public Health Methodology from Universite Libre de Bruxelles (Belgium) and a Doctor of Dental Surgery from Padjadjaran University (Indonesia).


She is working in the Lancet Commission on Oral Health project.
The Lancet Commission on Oral Health is a scientific review, inquiry, and response to an urgent and often neglected global public health importance of oral diseases and the need for a radically different policy agenda to tackle this major problem.
In addition to this, she is also supporting on-going activities linked to the UCL-World Health Organisation (WHO) Collaborating Centre of Oral Health Inequalities and Public Health.
She is a mixed-methods researcher with an interest in the health-related quality of life, especially in examining the integration of the impacts of oral health disease burden and health-related determinants on people’s quality of life.
