My research activities address global materials processing, forming, manufacturing and healthcare challenges. Major themes of current investigation include:
(i) Novel materials processing and forming techniques with manufacturing as the focus, e.g. manufacturing functional materials structures for healthcare.
(ii) Generation and Encapsulation of biostructures for prevention and cure therapies using bubbles, particles, capsules and fibers with applications in tissue engineering, drug delivery, antimicrobial filtration, wound care, food engineering etc.
(iii) Preparation of coatings (for implants), inserts and new biomaterials for various biomedical engineering sectors
Further details are given in my personal pages at:

Current teaching is mainly to do with the MSc course on Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering which Professor Edirisinghe designed and initiated in 2007. Each year, up to six masters students and up to six undergraduates do their research projects in his laboratory.
