I am Research Associate in Networked Systems in the Communications and Information Systems Group, Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering, University College London. I am also member of ICCS (Institute of Communications and Connected Systems) at UCL. I hold a MSc in Data Communications, Networks and Distributed Systems (DCNDS) from UCL and a PhD in Informatics from University of Sussex. I has been involved in various research projects (both EU and EPSRC) across several UK universities including University of Edinburgh, University of Aberdeen and University of Sussex.

Research Summary

My recent and on-going research is centred on the following topics:

  • Applications of machine learning to mobile networks, multimedia applications, and Internet congestion control. 
  • Mobile system architecture including 5G, LTE, and WiFi.
  • Multi-Access Edge Computing (MEC); Software-Defined Networking (SDN). 
  • Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV); Network management & orchestration (OSM MANO). 

At UCL I have been involved with the following projects:

  • ACCT. I am working on improving the performance of Internet transport protocols via machine learning techniques.
  • Multi-RAT. I am working on reforming 5G NR protocol stack by ML techniques to achieve high aggregated capacity at low-cost. it exploits multiple radio access technologies (e.g., WiFi and 5G) simultaneously. 
  • WhiteHaul. I worked on this project in collaboration with Prof. Mahesh Marina and Dr. Mohamed Kassem from University of Edinburgh. WhiteHaul provides low-cost wireless backhaul solution by exploiting TV White Space spectrum (TVWS) and MultiPath TCP (MPTCP). 
  • 5G-MEDIA. I worked on designing a reinforcement learning algorithm to improve the quality of live video streaming contents. 5G-MEDIA was an EU H2020 project with 16 partners including OTE, RTVE, NETAS, IBM, NEXTWORKS, Telefonica.
