Biography
Miriam is a Lecturer in Oral Language and Literacy at IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, and a member of UCL’s Centre for Inclusive Education. She received her PhD in Educational Psychology from McGill University. Her research focuses on understanding the links between reading motivation and reading development, and on identifying teaching approaches that foster the motivation, engagement and learning of pupils with reading difficulties.
Research Summary
Miriam's research focuses on understanding the links between reading development and reading motivation, and the ways in which motivational approaches to reading instruction impact the reading motivation, engagement and learning of children with reading difficulties.
Teaching Summary
At the IOE, Miriam teaches on the Masters in Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia) and the Masters in Special and Inclusive Education (Dyslexia route). She is the module leader for the course "Assessment of Specific Learning Difficulties (Dyslexia)".
