Before coming to UCL, I worked at the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication (Imperial College) were I taught Spanish and translation.  I studied English Studies at the Universidad de Sevilla (Spain). I have an MA in Education of Modern languages from the Institute of Education (UK) and a PhD in Applied Linguistics at the Universidad Nacional de EducaciĆ³n a Distancia (Spain).

Research Summary
My research interests include teacher training, e-learning and the application of audiovisual translation (AVT) to foreign language education (FLL). I am interested in the impact of AVT practice on language competence, in particular the enhancement of oral skills when using audiodescription as a didactic tool as well as the development of language illustrative descriptors that can complement the European Framework of Reference for Languages. I have worked in several projects to develop FLL resources and online courses, such as ClipFlair and VICTOR (VoIce-over aCtiviTies to improve oRal production skills). I am currently collaborating in the TRADILEX project designing and piloting AVT tasks for language learners whilst disseminating lessons learnt.
