Biography

Dr.Mengyan Nie is currently working as a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Institute for Materials Discovery, University College London. He received his BSc and MSc degrees in Chemistry from Lanzhou University, and PhD in Analytical Chemistry from Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Before joining the UCL, he has worked on multidisciplinary applied research projects and collaborated with relevant industrial leading companies and institutions. He has developed expertise in materials performance testing, chemical and electrochemical sensing, surface modification and functionalization, corrosion management, and smart and integrated microdevices.

Teaching Summary

Since joining the UCL in 2017, as programme lead for MSc Advanced Materials Science, Dr. Nie has led and redeveloped most core modules for the MSc programme and coordinated the introduction of four new routes into the MSc Advanced Materials Science. 

Currently serving as module leads and lecturers for the following modules:

•NSCI0008 Biomaterials for Healthcare and Biomedical Applications

•NSCI0009 Microstructural Control for Advanced Materials

•NSCI0015 Research Methodology

•NSCI0030 Materials Innovation for Renewable Energy
