Research Summary

My research interests centre on education and education policy in India, including the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE). I am currently working on a documentary analysis of the current Indian government's education policy with a focus on its effectiveness for supporting the achievement of education for all in India. Previous publications are:

Sarin, Meera Nath. “Quality Education for All? A Case Study of a New Delhi Government School.” Policy futures in education 13.3 (2015): 360–374.

Sarin, Meera Nath. “The Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act (RTE): A Case Study of Its Functioning in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.” Educational quest (New Delhi) 11.3 (2020): 149–160.

My doctoral research (UCL Institute of Education) explored the child-centred education policy incorporated within the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education  Act in India. It investigated how child-centred education is conceptualised within the Legislation and how the policy is functioning through documentary analysis and interviews with Indian teachers in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab.
