I qualified as a speech and language therapist in 2002, and worked in the NHS, predominantly in adult in-patient neurological rehabilitation with some experience in more acute settings. I joined UCL in 2011, initially part-time combined with my NHS role. My current clinical role is within the UCL Communication Clinic.
Prior to training as an SLT I completed postgraduate and postdoctoral research in cognitive psychology.
I was previously the Head of the final year of the undergraduate speech and language therapy course (BSc Speech Sciences). My current teaching role includes lectures on cognitive neuropsychology and verb and sentence processing and therapy, professional studies tutorials and workshops, research project supervision, and practice education in the clinic.

I work in the broad area of acquired communication difficulties and their management. I am the coordinator of the UCL Communication Clinic, where I work as a speech and language therapist, practice educator and on service development projects. My specific research interests are in cognitive neuropsychological approaches to understanding language and other communication impairments, and in accounts of therapy that have a place for attention, executive function, learning and memory.
