I have worked at the Institute of Education since 2019. I am a subject tutor on the English PGCE. I am course leader for Developing Understanding of English, Media and Drama studies on the MA English Education programme. I also teach on the core module, Contemporary Issues in English Education and the Shakespeare in Education module. I am currently undertaking a PhD under the supervision of Dr John Yandell and Dr Theo Bryer.
I have been Chair for the London Association for Teachers of English since 2017.
Before moving to the Institute of Education, I worked as a head of English and Media faculty at Preston Manor School, Brent, where I was also a teacher of English for 7 years. Prior to this I worked in Buckinghamshire at secondary modern school as a teacher of English.
My doctoral research is focused on emerging teacherly identities for early-career teachers. I have previously written in Changing English: Studies in Culture and Education on issues of culture, identity and reading in London classrooms.
