Biography
Merve is a social policy researcher developing expertise in parental leave policies. She is a Jr Affiliate to International Network on Leave Policies and Research, and previously she contributed to research reports on eligibility for parental leave in the EU for EIGE. She has prior working experience in research projects on topics predominantly focusing on family-related policies such as early childhood education and care, maternal employment, and access to basic social services. Her pre-doctoral work experience includes field trips to Turkey, Jordan, Lebanon, and Pakistan. She is an experienced user of Stata and Nvivo.
Research Summary
In her doctoral research, Merve studies the impact of the 2016 parental leave reform on fathers' leave take-up behaviours in Luxembourg. Starting from a discussion on access to the leave, she measures the use of the leave and how workplace characteristics and intra-couple dynamics influence fathers' leave take-up behaviours. For the analysis, she uses the administrative social security records of Luxembourg.

Her PhD is generously funded by the National Research Fund of Luxembourg with project number 12540500 and locally hosted by LISER.
