Biography

1976 MA at the University of Amsterdam (cum laude).

1978 Dr.Phil. (Ph.D.) at the Free University of Berlin (magna cum laude).

1981-2017 Full Professor at Leiden University.

2010- Professor of Human Development at DPECS, Erasmus University Rotterdam 

2011- PI of the Generation R cohort study, Erasmus University Medical Centre

2018- Professor Emeritus of Child and Family Studies at Leiden University

2018- Scientific Consultant of the Leiden-Consortium of Individual Development

2017-2020 Honorary Senior Visiting Fellow, School of Clinical Medicine, University of Cambridge



Research Summary

Marinus van IJzendoorn is a Visiting Professor in the Research Department of Clinical, Education and Health Psychology, Division on Psychology and Language Sciences, Faculty of Brain Sciences of UCL. Marinus studies the social, psychological and neurobiological determinants of parenting and child development, with special emphasis on attachment, emotion regulation, differential susceptibility, and child maltreatment. He is also interested in meta-analysis and methodology of developmental science.
