I am a lecturer in the Dept of Science & Technology Studies. I research technology and knowledge production in Global South contexts and I am particularly interested in the nature of expertise and furthering understanding of nature and society through the application of transdisciplinary approaches, decolonial practice and epistemic pluralism. I hold an Honours Bachelor of Environmental Studies from the University of Waterloo in Canada, an MSc in Environmental Policy from Bard College, and was awarded a PhD by the University of Edinburgh which was based on an analysis of the practices and experiences of digital start-up entrepreneurs in Nairobi, Kenya. I have held a research position at the Oxford Internet Institute at the University of Oxford, where I continued the doctoral research on Africa's digital entrepreneurs. I was also a research fellow at the One Ocean Hub at Strathclyde University where I revived an interest in global scientific collaboration and development that recalled my work as an innovation and science policy advisor at a variety of Non-Governmental Organisations, including the World Agroforestry Centre and the New York Academy of Sciences.

I am an interdisciplinary researcher whose primary interest is technology and knowledge production in the Global South. My doctoral and post-doctoral research was on digital innovation and entrepreneurship sectors in African cities.
Most recently I have been studying processes of scientific research for development by collaborating in the UKRI GCRF projects, the One Ocean Hub and Tomorrow's Cities.
I currently teach:
Science in Popular Culture (Yr 2)
Social Science Research Methods (Yr 2)
Science, Technology and International Development (Masters)
