Biography
I am a Principal Research Fellow with a Diagnostic Radiography and Applied Medical Physics background. Since 2007, I have successfully led all the imaging operations, and thus directly facilitated the research of the NMR Research Unit, Queen Square Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Centre, Department of Neuroinflammation. This institutional activity has collectively delivered substantial international impact, new diagnostic criteria for MS, novel biomarkers for prognosis and patients' monitoring and license of new disease modifying therapies.
Research Summary
The focus of my own research over the years has been the development and implementation of new structural and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) acquisition and analysis methods that offer improved, and are more sensitive to, detection of pathological alterations in composition (e.g. axonal loss, demyelination) and microstructural organisation of neural tissue in the spinal cord, optic nerves and the peripheral nerves.
Teaching Summary
Educational activities have also formed an integral part of my work. I supervise PhD and MSc students and I am regularly lecturing on the MSc in Advanced Neuroimaging and other short courses and workshops within the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology.
