Dr Nathalie Huegler
  • Honorary Research Fellow
  • IOE - Education, Practice & Society
  • UCL Institute of Education

I joined the IoE in 2016 as a research associate for the EduMAP project ('Adult Education as a Means to Active Participatory Citizenship'), an EU (Horizon 2020) funded collaboration with partner universities across Europe.

I originally trained as a social worker / social pedagogue in Germany and worked for over a decade in different social work practitioner roles with asylum seeking and refugee young people in London, while also being involved in various academic activities, including as a co-editor of the Sage Handbook of International Social Work (2012) and teaching social work students in practical and theoretical modules.

My PhD (completed 2016 at London Metropolitan University) focused on social work with separated young people and human rights. I also have an MA in International Social Work and Refugee Studies (University of East London).
