Biography

Originally from Poland, obtained MChem from Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) in 2017 with research project focusing on Microwave Dielectric Spectroscopy study of TiO2pigment suspensions. Worked on interdisciplinary projects with Microbiology and Material Chemistry for applications of zeolites in anticorrosive coatings and delaying food degradation. Completed his PhD at UCL in 2022 focusing on fluorine-free and transparent superhydrophobic coatings utilising various methods such as AACVD, Spin coating and Spray coating of polymer-particle nanocomposites. Further interest includes the use of metal oxide crosslinking of PDMS studying their effects on physical and chemical properties of the polymer in development of functional polymeric films.

Research Summary
Dr Norbert Janowicz has completed his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering focusing on the development of nanocomposites for liquid repelling surfaces. During this time he conducted research into nanoparticle synthesis and functionalisation with silanes, modified polymeric network with metal oxide bridging and fabricated coatings using a variety of techniques. Most of Dr Janowicz research is cross-disciplinary between material science and mechanical engineering and involves collaboration with chemists, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers and material scientists.
