A spatial planner and regional development professional by training, my experience in and exposure to territorial development, urban and regional planning and urban regeneration spans a variety of capacities and degrees of responsibility. I started off my career in 1998 as a planning practitioner, working on projects like the formulation of quality of life indicators for the Urban Audit Pilot Project of DG Regio and the Unification of the Archaeological Sites of Athens. I then worked as a planner in the Organising Committee for the Olympic Games- 'Athens 2004'. I moved to academia in 2003 (University of Reading) and to UCL in 2006.
Since then, I have acted as an expert and advisor to a range of public and private sector as well as civic society actors (international organisations, national, regional and local government bodies, investment funds, NGOs) mainly in EU but also in non-EU countries. Indicatively, I have acted as an advisor to UN Habitat, the European Commission, the Office of the Greek Prime Minister and the Greek Ministry of the Environment. In addition I have offered expert advice to the European Investment Bank and IGLOO Regeneration Fund and have led a scoping study for the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).

My research outputs have been published in the form of a book, several peer reviewed publications, book chapters, industry reports and working papers. My current research interests include: the creation and re-distribution of value in urban transformation projects, the links between urban development patterns and social deprivation and, finally, the evolution and function of systems regulating the use of land and the allocation of development rights.
I am keen to engage in cross-disciplinary projects that tackle real-world problems from different perspectives. Research projects I have worked on have been funded by the European Commission (H2020), JPI Urban Europe, the ESRC, the National Housebuilders Council (NHBC), the House Builders Federation (HBF), the Foundation for Urban and Regional Studies (FURS), the Greek Ministry of Industry & Technology and the British Council.
I am a member of the editorial board of the online ‘Social Atlas of Athens’, a member of the Scientific Committee of the international ‘Changing Cities Conference’ and member of the editorial board tasked to set up a new international peer reviewed journal called ‘The Transactions of the Association of the European Schools of Planning’.
At postgraduate level I teach the module 'BPLN0062 Development Projects'
