Biography

Dr Nicole Knöpfel is a staff member of Prof. Kinsler’s research team in the Mosaicism and Precision Medicine Laboratory at the Francis Crick Institute, London and is taking her PhD in Molecular Genetics University College London (Research Start: 10-2020), while also visiting the Dermatology clinic at Great Ormond St Hospital for Children. 

She graduated in Medicine in Barcelona, Spain and obtained her specialist title in Dermatology and Venereology in 2016. She developed an early interest in Paediatric Dermatology during her training with Dr. Martin-Santiago and holds an educational background at Catholic Children's Hospital Wilhelmstift, Hamburg (Prof. Peter Hoeger) and Hospital del Niño Jesús, Madrid (Dr. Antonio Torrelo) where she completed a fellowship in Paediatric Dermatology. During this time, she also pursued further training in paediatric dermatopathology (Dr. Isabel Colmenero). In 2018 she joined the Dermatology department at Children’s Hospital Zurich (Dr. Lisa Weibel) where she worked exclusively as a paediatric dermatologist and collaborated with the team’s research. 

Teaching Summary

Dr. Nicole Knöpfel has authored more than 50 articles indexed in PubMed and has contributed with chapters to main textbooks in Pediatric Dermatology. She contributes to the SciESPD scientific website (European Society of Pediatric Dermatology) and fulfils her Teaching duties for the Spanish Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (AEDV), Swiss Paediatric group and ESPD.
