  • Research Fellow in Quantum Information Theory
  • Dept of Computer Science
  • Faculty of Engineering Science

I studied Mathematics and Physics concurrently at RWTH Aachen University. My first research project leading to a publication involved studying the computational power of certain quantum mechanical systems. The result was included in "IOP Journal of Physics A: Highlights of 2014 Selection."

My PhD was supervised by Prof. Barbara Terhal and focused on constructions that make a quantum computer robust against noise. These constructions make use of the beautiful geometry of curved and higher-dimensional spaces, as well as techniques ranging from cellular automata to deep learning.

Upon completion my PhD in 2017, I was awarded the UCLQ Postdoctoral Fellowship in Quantum Technologies. I deferred the Fellowship for a year to work full-time for PsiQ, a Silicon Valley based start-up building a general-purpose silicon photonic quantum computer.
Research Summary

My research interest mostly lies in the field of quantum information, at the interface between mathematics, physics and computer science.

Teaching Summary

  • RWTH, Institute for Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, April - August 2010 & 2011: TA "Mathematical Logic"
  • RWTH, Institute for Quantum Information, April - August 2013: TA "Quantum Information"
  • RWTH, Institute for Quantum Information, April - August 2014, 2015 & 2016: TA "Mathematical Methods of Theoretical Physics"
  • RWTH, Institute for Quantum Information, October 2015 - February 2016: TA "Quantum Error Correction"
I co-supervised two bachelor students working on quantum complexity and quantum error correction. I also supervised an intern working on quantum error correction.
