I am a neurologist with a clinical and research interest in cognitive neurology, particularly young onset and inherited dementias. I studied medicine at Cambridge University and Imperial College London and completed my PhD at the Dementia Research Centre, UCL Institute of Neurology, under the supervision of Professor Nick Fox. I have held an MRC clinical research training fellowship and Brain exit fellowship and am currently supported by a University of London Chadburn Lectureship.
My research focuses on the use of MRI to investigate early markers of pathological change in familial and sporadic Alzheimer’s disease. I have a particular interest in the effect of the disease process on white matter tracts connecting different brain regions and how this can be explored using multi-modal MRI. Another aspect of my work aims to investigate genetic and neuropathological factors underpinning phenotypic heterogeneity in both familial Alzheimer’s disease and atypical presentations of sporadic Alzheimer’s disease such as posterior cortical atrophy. I am involved in running a support group for families affected by autosomal dominantly inherited familial Alzheimer's disease (http://www.raredementiasupport.org/fad/).
