Nishma completed her MSc in Health Economics at City University, London in 2004. Prior joining UCL, Department for Applied Health Research (DAHR) she was employed by University of Oxford, National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit (NPEU) and involved in perinatal research, in particular economic evaluations alongside clinical trials using primary data. She is currently involved in the BRIGHTLIGHT study evaluating the cost and cost-effectiveness of levels of teenage and young adults (TYA) cancer care, funded by the NIHR Programme Grant for Applied Research.

Research Summary

Nishma joined the Department of Applied Health Research (DAHR) in October 2011. To date, she has worked on evaluating the cost-effectiveness of therapies for agitation in dementia funded by the NIHR and HTA programme grant, economic evaluation of education programme for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in ONEL funded by NECLES HEIC, the cost-effectiveness modelling of robot versus human-assisted cholecystectomy funded by the NIHR programme grant and the multinational trial assessing the cost-effectiveness of a treatment policy of referral for carotid stenting compared with referral for carotid surgery (ICSS), funded by the MRC, Sanofi -SynthĂ©labo, European Union.
