  • Senior Teaching Fellow
  • Practice & Policy
  • UCL School of Pharmacy
  • Faculty of Life Sciences
Biography

With a background in biochemistry, Oksana began her academic career at the University of Guelph, Canada and then went on to pursue a Masters of Pharmacy degree, here at the UCL School of Pharmacy.

Upon graduating in 2010, she undertook her preregistration training in the community pharmacy sector and delivered health care to marginalized minority groups. As a practicing pharmacist, Oksana became even more interested in how specific NHS policies and programmes played out in the community, and went on to specialise in pharmacy law as it underpins all such policies.

In 2011, Oksana relocated to the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) headquarters in The Hague, Netherlands. Here she was the Lead Pharmacist Researcher on a collaborative project involving FIP, IPSF, and ELSA titled: “Pharmacy Law and Competition Law: Feuding Laws or Working in Partnership?” In addition, Oksana is a regular contributor to the International Pharmacy Journal (IPJ) covering topics such as health economics, leadership in pharmacy, pharmacy law, professionalism and multi-disciplinary collaboration within the health care field.

In May 2012, Oksana was selected as an IPSF delegate at the World Health Organisation’s sixty-fifth World Health Assembly in Geneva, where she assisted in drafting interventions addressing the critical issue of spurious/falsely-labelled/falsified/counterfeit (SFFC) and published the outcomes in the Pharmaceutical Journal.

Research Summary

Research in pharmacy law and regulation, pharmacy practice and public health.

Teaching Summary

Apart from her research, Oksana returned to the School of Pharmacy in April of 2012 as a teacher practitioner. She now holds the post of Teaching Fellow. Her previous work with student organisations, both as a student and as a teacher, further developed her enthusiasm and interest in education.
