Biography

 

Praveetha's research focuses on population mental health. She uses a range of data sources to investigate the development, risk and protective factors and consequences of mental ill-health. 


She received her PhD from the Department of Clinical, Educational and Health Psychology at UCL based at the Evidence Based Practice Unit, held a postdoctoral position at the Centre for Longitudinal Studies andwas Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Population Mental Health and Child Development at the University of Liverpool. She has received  various recognitions for her research and engagement work including the British Psychological Society's Award for Outstanding Doctoral Research Contributions to Psychology, was on Forbes’ 30 under 30 list for Science and Healthcare and received an ESRC Prize for Impact on Public Policy. 



Research Themes
Research Summary

I have a joint appointment across the MRC Unit for Lifelong Health (Faculty of Population Health) and Ageing and the Centre for Longitudinal Studies (Faculty of Education and Social Sciences)


I am interested in:

- Mental health and wellbeing through the lifecourse, antecedents and consequences

- Inequalities in mental health and wellbeing and the drivers of these inequalities

- Contextual factors and mental health (with a focus on time and place)

- How mental health is conceptualised and measured




Teaching Summary

I co-ordinate the PhD programme at the MRC Unit for LifelongHealth and Ageing and contribute lectures to various courses across UCL. 

I supervise PhD, BSc and MSc students in both my departments.
