Biography

I am an Assistant Professor of Economics in the School of Slavonic and East European Studies (SSEES) at the University College London. I am also a Visiting Fellow in the Centre for Economic Performance (CEP) at the London School of Economics (LSE); a Faculty Associate at the International Inequalities Institute at LSE; and an Adjunkt at the Institute of Economics, Polish Academy of Sciences. I obtained my PhD in Economics from the Central European University (CEU) in Budapest in 2016.

I have founded an expert group – Dobrobyt na Pokolenia (Prosperity for Generations) – which has gathered leading young Polish economists with the aim of refreshing the economic debate in Poland. I am also a member of Concilium Civitas - a group of the influential Polish social scientists working abroad.

I was born in Warsaw, Poland.

Research Themes
Research Summary

My research consists of two inter-related streams. The first considers labour market inequalities, in particular, the role of firms in wage determination. The second focuses on understanding the evolution of national and sub-national economic inequalities, with a special focus given to understanding the long-run trends and consequences of inequalities in Central and Eastern Europe.

Teaching Summary

I am currently teaching two modules at SSEES: Quantitative Methods and Economics of Property Rights

In the past, I was a lecturer of two courses at LSE. EC317 Labour Economics at the Department of Economics was an undergraduate course that provides an introduction to the economic analysis of behaviour and institutions in labour markets. The LSE Masterclass on Understanding Discrimination is an innovative three-week online course teaching practical strategies for measuring and addressing discrimination.

I have completed the CEU Program for Excellence in Teaching in Higher Education and provided teaching assistantship to three courses at the CEU Economics Department. I also co-designed and thought Microeconomics course at the CEU School of Public Policy
