Biography

Dr Elaine Boyd has been involved in English language assessment design and teacher training for a range of international organizations including the British Council, Cambridge Assessment, Pearson as well as working to develop assessment tools with various education ministries internationally. She has been especially concerned with the impact of assessments in the classroom and worked closely with teachers and teacher educators delivering courses in assessment literacy in Europe, India and SE Asia and has published articles in this field. She was also a visiting Professor at the Universitat Politecnica de Valencia where she helped implement the quality control programme for EMI.

Elaine has authored a range of exam coursebooks for various age groups for leading international publishers. Her PhD investigated spoken language using corpus data and her current research interests include intercultural communication, classroom assessment and managing learner feedback.  

Elaine is an Individual Expert Member of the Association of Language Testers in Europe (ALTE).
