Biography
Dr. Parikh has expertise in infrastructure and business models for resource constrained settings such as slums and rural communities in Africa and Asia. She has experience in infrastructure planning for cities to cover the areas of financial planning, institutional frameworks and societal impact. She carries out sustainability assessments and monitoring/evaluation of infrastructure projects using participatory techniques and impact assessment tools She has substantial in-country experience in South Asia, Africa and UK working with local governments and slum communities and has led multi sectoral projects at both city and community scale.
Research Summary

Dr. Parikh's research focuses on infrastructure provision and impact in informal settlements. Her current work explores gender based violence around sanitation facilities, access to sanitation technologies in slums and resilient infrastructure. Her work also explores the impact of environmental improvements on well-being of low income communities in Asia and Africa.

She is programme director for the new MSc in Engineering for International Development
