She has substantial industry experience in India and also a research based in infrastructure planning for cities to cover the areas of financial planning, institutional frameworks and societal impact. She has substantial in-country experience in South Asia, Africa and UK working with local governments and slum communities and has led multi- sectoral projects at both city and community scale. She is Chair of the Editorial Panel for ICE's Engineering Sustainability Journal and was invited to join the board of Trustees for Happold Foundation and Engineer's Against Poverty. In 2019, she was recognised as an Engineers Without Borders Changemaker.
Dr. Parikh has been awarded a prestigious five year Senior Research fellowship co-funded by industry (BBOXX) and Royal Academy of Engineering. The fellowship titled Smart Solar Solutions for all (S34ALL) will focus on smart solar solutions for resource challenged communities combining machine learning based models with consumer surveys.
Dr. Parikh has expertise in infrastructure (water, sanitation and energy) for resource constrained settings such as slums and rural communities in Africa and Asia. She is also leading research on developing evidence base to link SDG's and infrastructure.
She was Co-Investigator on the PANChSHEEEL project funded by MRC/GCRF which is looking at integrated health, education, engineering and environmental interventions to improve feeding practices for infants in India. She is Co-Investigator on the IsuLabantu project funded by ESRC/NRF which looks at self upgrading participatory processes for informal settlements in South Africa. She is also Co-Investigator on the Resilient Schools project in Indonesia where she is exploring WASH solutions for building resilient schools post disaster.
