Biography

Pranay Sharma is a graduate of King’s College in London where he qualified in 1997 with honours. As an undergraduate, he was awarded a number of prizes and awards. These included several merits for clinical dental achievement and the highly regarded National Westminster prize in the subject of oral pathology.

Following qualification, Dr Sharma completed two years as a Senior House Officer, training in Restorative Dentistry and Oral and Maxillo-facial Surgery. During this period he gained the Membership in Dental Surgery qualification (MFDS RCPS), awarded by the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow.

In 2000 he joined the Eastman Dental Institute in London and completed a four year specialist training program in fixed and removable prosthodontics, with distinction for his clinical case presentations. He was subsequently awarded the MRD, the highest formal qualification available for the prosthodontic speciality, by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. He is formally recognized by the General Dental Council UK, as a Specialist in Prosthodontics.

He has remained on the teaching staff of the Eastman and is now the Program Director for the Removable Prosthodontic Programmes and is a Senior Clinical Lecturer in Prosthodontics and Implant dentistry at the University College London Eastman CPD. He lectures extensively in the UK, both at local and national level and internationally.

Dr. Sharma is an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an internal examiner for the restorative masters course and the implant diploma at the Eastman CPD Dental Institute.

Duties involve assistance in teaching, lecturing and practical demonstrations on the aesthetic module, occlusion module, plastic restorations module, the dental materials module, extra-coronal restorations module and tooth preparation as well as personal mentoring and group tutor. Dental materials diploma module essay marking. Co-ordination and teaching of the complete and partial dentures module of the certificate and diploma courses. Teaching and lecturing on the aesthetic, implant and sports dentistry modules of the diploma. Course co-ordinator for the IQE C revision courses. Section 63 courses for dentists: Minimally invasive dentistry. A 2 day course with theory, practical demonstrations and hands-on component.Problem solving for complete and partial dentures. Management of the heavily restored tooth.
