Biography

I joined the UCL School of Pharmacy as a Maplethorpe research fellow in 2016 and was appointed Lecturer in Pharmacoepidemiology in July 2019.

Prior to embarking on the Maplethorpe fellowship I completed a PhD in Pharmacoepidemiology at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and post-doctoral research projects at LSHTM and Kings College London.

Research Summary

My main research focus is assessing the risks and benefits of drug use in vulnerable patient populations. I have an interest in research methodology; how best to quantify the individual patient risk of drug adverse effects using electronic health records.

Current projects include a cohort study on the risk of Parkinson's disease in patients receiving treatment for diabetes; a self controlled case series study on the risk of MI in users of antipsychotic agents; and a drug utilisation study on antidepressant use after a cancer diagnosis.

Teaching Summary

I currently (co-)supervise 3 PhD students, working on psychotropic drug use in vulnerable patient populations using electronic health records.

I teach the Pharmacoepidemiology course for Year 3 MPharm students.
