Research Themes

Research Summary
The majority of my work is focused on molecular characterization of samples from patients with haematological malignancies in order to (i) determine the incidence of specific mutations in certain diseases (in particular acute myeloid and lymphoid leukaemia) and their impact on response to therapy and clinical outcome and (ii) screen candidate genes for novel mutations.
In addition, my lab has an interest in the pathogenesis and biology of the myeloproliferative disorder essential thrombocythaemia and the myeloid condition called severe congenital neutropenia, both of which have an increased risk of transformation to leukaemia.
Teaching Summary
I give occasional lectures of a more formal teaching nature to haematologists in training, but most of my teaching is on an informal one-to-one basis within the department
