Biography

Qualified as teacher 1951, Adv Dip Ed with Distinction (Cambs)  1974 MA Child Development (Lond) 1976, PhD Education (Lond) 1985
• former teacher and headteacher of 3 schools for 4-8 year olds
• Founding Course Tutor for Primary PGCE course at (then) Institute of Education 1978-86
• From 1986-2002, worked in sub-Saharan Africa, Mauritius, 9 countries in SE Asia (based in Philippines), Namibia and Malawi. Major roles in senior University positions (Botswana 1986-88 and Malawi 1997-2002). Consultant UNDP/Mauritius - training of Master Teacher Trainers for pre-school sector  intermittent 1988-1992), USAID/Florida State University (Namibia - Rsident Technical Adviser to Ministry of Education and Culture to provide training for all Primary Headteachers in Namibia, post-Independence from South Africa and new constitution post Apartheid 1992-2005), also subsequent UNICEF consultancies to design pre-school curriulum and Basic Skills certificate for Primary school leavers.

• Davis R.G. The Aspirations of Primary Schoolchildren in Urban and Rural Districts of Botswana 1985-87, + small scale replications in Lesotho and Swaziland.
