I am research associate at the Social Science Research Unit
(SSRU), UCL Social Research Institute since 2018. Prior to my career in
academia, I worked with children with special educational needs (0 to 6 years
old), designing and delivering child-led intervention programmes and advising
mainstream pre-school and primary schools in my native country Mexico.
My research interests include sociology of childhood;
children's rights in relation to healthcare; children's palliative care; and
research ethics. I have a particular interest in baby-centred care and parental
involvement in neonatal healthcare (intensive care units), and in shared
decision-making in neonatal and paediatric healthcare.
I employ a range of qualitative methods including ethnographic
and case study approaches with children, young people and healthcare professionals.
I have a particular interest in applied critical realism. More recently, I
joined the EPPI-Centre at SSRU, and have developed an interest in systematic
review methods for healthcare policy and practice, including systematic mapping
and living maps.
