Biography
I am a Libyan and German mother of two, living in England since 2006. I am a qualified English teacher and taught at secondary schools in London for 11 years. My primary school education was in Libya, my secondary school education was in Germany, my undergraduate studies in England and my postgraduate taught programme was in Montreal, Canada.
I speak English, German and Arabic fluently and French at beginner level.
I am a member of PESGB and BERA.
Research Themes


Research Summary
I am currently an MPhil/PhD student in the Department of Learning and Leadership. My qualitative research interests, supervised by Dr Rupert Higham (DLL) and Dr Alexandra Lewis (EPS), are in the philosophy of education, specifically John Dewey and pragmatism, and democracy building with Libyan teachers. I also read extensively literature in the Peace and Conflict Studies field.
During my Masters studies at Concordia university, I explored the civic values of International Baccalaureate Organisations students using a critical qualitative research methodology.
Teaching Summary
I have taught in secondary schools for 11 years. I was a Teaching Assistant for 3 semesters during my MA at Concordia University. During my current PhD studies, I am a PGTA for the Education in the Age of Globalisation module in the BA Education Studies programme at the IOE, UCL's Faculty of Education and Society.
