Biography

Mr. Roberto Sacco qualified in dentistry from the University of Florence in 2003. From 2004 to 2007 he worked as Research Fellow in Prosthodontics and then Clinical Research Associate in the Oral and Maxillofacial department at the University of Florence. In 2007 he was appointed Spr in Oral Surgery at the University of Sassari and obtained his specialisation in 2010. The same year, he moved to the UK to work in both primary and secondary care as Oral Surgeon. Over these years of practice, he has developed a special interest in treating anxious patients under sedation and gained a Postgraduate Certificate in Sedation and Pain Management at Eastman Dental Institute in 2014.

 

Roberto works as Oral Surgery Specialist/Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow at King’s College Hospital where he is heavily involved in dental education, training and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate students. In addition, Roberto works also as Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow - Sedation Deputy Director at UCL- Eastman Dental Institute. 

Research Summary

Mr. Sacco has been actively involved in clinical research since he graduated.

He served as Research Fellow, Clinical Research Associate before his Oral Surgery training. His research involvement was predominantly oriented to Clinical research

His main research interests include surgical management of jaw bone disease, bone regeneration, implantology, hard and soft tissue healing mechanisms.

He is also board editor since 2013 of the Journal of Oral Implants and Case Report in Dentistry, Hindawi Publishing Corporation.

Teaching Summary

During his Specialty Trainee Registered in Oral Surgery (2007-2010) He was involved actively in education and supervising undergraduates (BDS 3th, 4th and 5th year). During these years he was regularly performing lectures, seminars, case base presentations, tutorials and supervising students during their clinical session. He had the chance to mentor several students during the preparation of the dissertation for their final exam.

As Oral Surgeon and Honorary Clinical Teaching Fellow at King's College Hospital, NHS Trust, he is involved in education and supervising undergraduates (BDS 4th and 5th year). His main duty as honorary clinical teacher is supervision, small group seminar style teaching, facilitation of self directed learning.

As Senior Clinical Teaching Fellow and Sedation Deputy Director at Eastman Dental Institute, He is involved in education and supervising postgraduate students for the PG Certificate in Sedation. His main duty is supervision, lecturing and facilitation of self directed learning.
