Research Summary

Sulafa has a great passion for management research and the use of theory to improve management practice. Sulafa’s PhD research study was particularly interested in evaluating and improving the capacity of complex public sector procurement models to support collaborative design practices and innovation in construction projects. Her PhD research not only enabled her to understand the key contemporary management issues affecting the industry, but also to utilise theory to recommend improvements to current management practices. Sulafa co-founded the UCL Centre for Organisational Network Analysis (CONA@UCL). She is currently involved in a number of exciting research projects, including a collaborative project with the University of Melbourne (Australia) funded  by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) with the aim of designing effective stakeholder engagement practices in large transport infrastructure projects. She was also part of the academic support team on an ‘exemplary’ Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between Transport for London (TfL) and the Bartlett School of Construction and Project Management with the purpose of enhancing TfL’s competence in the design, implementation and evaluation of collaborative teams, through Organisational Network Analysis.Sulafa’s research is published in international journals including: Construction Management and Economics (CME), Industrial Marketing Management (IMM), and International Journal of Managing Projects in Business (IJMPiB).
