Dr Siming Chen obtained his PhD in Electrical Engineering from the
University of Sheffield in 2014. In September
2013, upon submission of his PhD thesis, he joined the UCL as a Research
Associate and was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Research Fellowship in
2017 in recognition is pioneering work on Si-based QD light sources. Dr Chen is
now a Lecturer and a member of the Photonics Group in the Department of
Electronic & Electrical Engineering at UCL. He has published more than 80
refereed papers and 4 patents and has
an h-index of 17.

Dr Siming Chen is a Royal Academy of
Engineering Fellow and a Lecturer in the Department of Electronic &
Electrical Engineering at UCL. His fellowship aims at developing the world’s
first monolithically integrated silicon photonics optical transmitter to solve
the slow data transfer capacity facing conventional copper-based
interconnectors. His research
interests include:
·
Silicon photonics integration
·
Quantum dot technology
·
Semiconductor Lasers and optical amplifiers
·
Semiconductor mode-locked lasers
- Advanced Photonics Devices (MSc/MEng, ELEC0109)
- PhD supervisor at the Department of Electronic & Electrical Engineering at UCL
- MRes supervisor at the centre for Doctoral Training (CDT) in Integrated Photonic and Electronic Systems (IPES)
