I am a survey researcher and epidemiologist, based in the Institute for Global Health at UCL and the centre for health at NatCen Social Research. I am experienced in the design, delivery, analysis, publication and dissemination of large-scale general population health research, with a focus on sexual behaviour and sexual health in Britain. I have been part of the core team on the British National Survey of Sexual Attitudes and Lifestyles (www.natsal.ac.uk) since 2008, and I lead on questionnaire development and testing, and survey design.
In additional to publishing findings in peer-reviewed journals, I am interested in other ways of achieving impact for scientific research. My public engagement work has included a range of artistic collaborations, youth projects, and public events to promote discussion of the research and of sex more generally. In 2015 I was awarded UCL Communications and Culture 'Communicator of the Year: Events and Festivals' in recognition of this work.
I take a keen interest in ethical issues in research, in particular in the practical management of ethical issues throughout the project lifecycle, and previously served on the Marie Stopes International independent Ethics Review Committee.

My research areas of interest include:
- Sexual health and service use research
- Sexual behaviour research
- Survey design
- Questionnaire design
- Use of biological samples in health surveys
- Research Ethics
- Statistical analysis
- Impact and public engagement with research
My teaching includes: research methods, questionnaire design, research ethics, stakeholder engagement, epidemiology of sexually transmitted infections.
