Research Summary

Stephen’s research investigates the training and re-skilling needs for tradespeople entering the sector of industrial and offsite construction. This is part of the larger field of Construction 4.0 which is modeled on Industry 4.0. These frameworks brings together advancements in technologies to further how our built environment is designed, constructed, and operated.

Through his research he hopes to learn:

  • How are skills and knowledge different for offsite construction when compared with conventional construction?
  • How are skills and knowledge requirements different in offsite construction, depending on housing type and subassemblies being used?
