I did a BSc at Glasgow (Cell Biology), a PhD at Cambridge (Neurophysiology), a masters at Birkbeck (Bioinformatics). Since then I've done post-docs in Cambridge very briefly before moving to UCL
At UCL I began at the Viral Oncology group with Chris Boshoff before joining the then newly founded Bill Lyons Informatics Centre within the UCL Cancer Institute. I'm a bioinformatics, statistics, programming researcher.

I collaborate with many groups within the Cancer Institute and UCL on many Genomics and Bioinformatics projects (ChIPseq, RNAseq, Methylation, Mutation Signatures).
My personal research interests are currently viral cancers and APOBEC mutation signatures.
I previously lectured on the Bloomsbury Introduction to Bioinformatics and the Cancer Institute MSc (gene expression, multiple testing, reproducible research). I have also taught a a 3 day course on the R programming language for postgraduates and researchers within the Cancer Institute.
However I have currently abandoned teaching to concentrate on research (for the moment).
