- UCL Institute of Education
I joined the UCL Social Research Institute as an Associate Professor in Economics after working as a lecturer and post-doctoral researcher in the same department. I completed my DPhil (PhD) in Economics at the University of Oxford as a Weidenfeld Scholar. I am a Research Fellow at the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Bonn, Germany.
Before completing my DPhil, I was a Fulbright Scholar to Germany and completed an MA in Education at the Free University Berlin. I hold a BSFS in International Economics with a minor in German and European Studies from the School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.

I am an economist interested in education and the labour market. My current work examines the linkages between socioeconomic status and gender and participation in higher education, overconfidence, those who are 'first in the family' to attend university, education policy and maternal labour supply, non-cognitive peer effects, international comparisons of educational outcomes, and the returns to early education. I co-authored the 2015 PISA national reports for England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
